Ready To Replace Your Fuel Filter?
Step 1: The fuel filter is located in front of the rear passenger tire. Engage the hand brake, place wheel chocks at the front wheels, jack up the rear passenger tire and place a jack stand to secure the vehicle:
Step 2: Remove the 12mm bolt securing the fuel filter onto the bracket:
Step 3: To minimize fuel spillage, have the new fuel filter’s protective end caps ready to plug the old filter’s ends as soon as you disconnect the fuel line. Have a drain pan positioned underneath (or a rag to absorb any fuel that drips out), pinch in the blue tabs on one end’s fuel line with your fingers, pull it off the filter and plug the filter with a cap:
Step 4: Repeat at the other end of the fuel filter and remove the old filter from the car:
Step 5: Compare the old filter with the new one to ensure you’ve got the correct part. In this case Unfortunately I had ordered the incorrect filter however it still fits into place so I continued for instructional purposes. Step 6: Installation is the reverse of removal. Ensure you’ve oriented the new filter correctly with the outlet end toward the front of the car. Simply push in the fuel lines until it clicks in. Hand-tighten the 12mm bolt when the new fuel filter is connected and positioned in the bracket. Here’s the end result:
Step 7: Clear the area, lower the car and start it up to ensure all is good. There may be some initial hesitation as the fuel system builds up pressure but will eventually normalize once you get the car started.
Now enjoy years of reliability from your new fuel filter!
