Mercedes-Benz M112/M113 Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Kit (S500, E320, & More) - Symptoms And Product Review
The power steering fluid reservoir on Mercedes-Benz models with the M112, M113, and M113K engines feature an integrated filter. Over time, this filter can become clogged and cause problems with your power steering system. Regular replacement of the reservoir is encouraged to keep your system functioning optimally.
Mercedes-Benz W211 Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement Symptoms
When you begin to experience symptoms of a failing power steering fluid reservoir, you shouldn't ignore them. If ignored long enough, you can quickly decrease the lifespan of your power steering pump. Additionally, if you suspect that your power steering pump is to blame, you should begin your diagnosis at the power steering fluid reservoir. As mentioned above, the filter inside the reservoir becomes clogged over time. When it becomes clogged, the symptoms you experience can easily be confused with the symptoms of a failing power steering pump. The main symptoms of a power steering fluid reservoir that needs replacement are:
- Pump groaning (especially when cutting the wheel fully)
- Fluid foaming at the reservoir
- Leaks
There isn't a set service interval on the power steering fluid reservoir. However, we strongly recommend replacing it every 2 years, along with the power steering fluid.
If you go to a dealer, you can expect this job to cost between $300 and $400. By doing it yourself, you're only paying for the parts, which are a fraction of the cost. Another added benefit is that the parts come with our Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. In another 2 years, you can send the reservoir back to us and get a new one completely free.
Mercedes-Benz Models Applicable
