FCP Euro Opts Out Of TC America Rounds At VIR And Sonoma
Milford, CT, 06/29/2020 – Team FCP Euro, defending 2019 TC America TCR champions, will not compete in races 3, 4, & 5 of the TC America season to be held at VIRginia International Raceway on July 10th-12th, and races 6, 7, & 8 at Sonoma Raceway on August 7th-9th, due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re disappointed to have to make such a decision,” explains Nate Vincent, FCP Euro Director of Motorsport and driver of the 72 GTI TCR. “Ultimately, the health and safety of our employees, partners, and team members are paramount.”
FCP Euro’s motorsports program is comprised mainly of full-time employees who handle key responsibilities in the day-to-day operations of FCP Euro’s core business selling European car parts online. “We have been extremely fortunate to be able to continue operating throughout this pandemic thanks to our dedicated employees and loyal customers. Servicing our customers and keeping our employees safe is our number one priority, and as soon as we feel there is minimal risk to our employees and customers, we will return to racing,” Vincent adds.
FCP Euro’s partners also support the decision. “We work with our partners to give their brands exposure, connect directly with the enthusiast community, and sell their parts,” said FCP Euro Brand Director and driver of the 71 GTI TCR, Michael Hurcyzn. “The current climate is not ideal for brand exposure and community engagement, so the focus is to continue to grow their sales via other means.”
In the meantime, the team is not sitting idle. “We are using this time to solidify the 2021 FCP Euro Motorsports plan and actively evaluate the rest of the 2020 schedule as we get closer to Labor Day,” explains Vincent. “We will continue to take each race on a case-by-case basis, and we hope to see our fans and rejoin our fellow competitors on track in TC America soon.”
