BMW E46 E39 528i Valve Cover & Gasket Replacement DIY
A BMW should be smooth, powerful, comfortable and smell like leather. But what if it's not powerful anymore? What if it smells like burning oil? These are just a few things a new valve cover and gasket can fix.
Oil leaks from the valve cover are common on these engines as they age, and the valve cover gasket becomes brittle. The valve cover itself is also prone to cracking, which can also introduce an oil leak, and even cause a vacuum leak. This vacuum leak can throw a check engine light due to a lean condition, so it's imperative to ensure your valve cover is in great shape and the replacement gasket goes on without a hitch.
Gareth will show you the proper way to install these parts so your engine bay is leak and smell-free.
