MK7 Volkswagen & Audi (GTI, A3, Jetta, & More) Brake Kit - Symptoms And Product Review
Are the brakes on your MK7 Volkswagen GTI or Audi nearing the end of their usable life? If so, this Zimmerman brake kit not only replaces your warped rotors and worn out pads, but it offers cost-effective benefits over OEM.
This kit makes it simple to replace both your brake pads and brake rotors. The pads are upgraded over stock to give more initial bite when getting on the brake pedal and less brake dust.
MK7 VW GTI & Audi Brake Kit Replacement Symptoms
Your brake rotors typically make it very apparent when they nee replacing. The symptoms tend to be severe and happen when your rotors become warped from overheating, or when your brake pads have worn down and left scoring on the rotor itself. Some of the symptoms of worn rotors are:
- Moderate to strong vibration when braking felt through the brake pedal, steering wheel, or in extreme cases, the seat of your pants.
It's possible that your brake pads and rotors are completely worn out without displaying any symptoms. All rotors have minimum thickness specification which you can easily measure using calipers or a micrometer (two tools in which I recommend everyone with a home-shop owns). If your rotors are at or under the minimum thickness, it's important that you replace them to regain optimal stopping ability.
There isn't an exact mileage that your brake rotors and pads wear-out at. It all depends on your car and driving style. We recommend regular inspection to determine when to replace them.
Brakes are one of the simplest components on the car to replace and one that we always recommend doing yourself. That way you know they're done correctly and with the optimal parts.
