What if you had a brand new, perfectly-lit, fully-equipped shop with every tool imaginable and a lift for your at-home DIY projects? What if that shop happened to be literally connected to a massive distribution center with a nearly limitless supply of car parts and inventory? That’s the luxury of filming DIY videos at FCP Euro, and until now, we’ve never had to be without it.
We’ve had to make some operational changes in response to COVID-19, the most substantial of which is the composition of our in-office and remote employees. For many of us here at FCP Euro, we have the ability to continue working from home. So, for all employees who are able to work from home, we’ve made it a requirement to do so. While those of us at home miss seeing each other and having the in-office water cooler banter, one of the biggest positives has been the opportunity to film content at home, outside of our shiny content studio.
This first video gives the full scope of the project, including the challenge (hilarity?) of teaching our fellow colleagues how to use a camera for what seems like the first time in their lives. One episode in and this series has already produced an immense amount of bloopers, so be sure to check our Instagram and Facebook pages if you want to laugh along with us.
Perhaps the most exciting part of this series for new DIY enthusiasts is that we’re getting back to basics. We’re going to show you how to equip your home garage (or one-bedroom apartment) with nothing but the tools we feel are absolute necessities to get these projects done. We’ll take you on a tour inside of our homes and our workshops to show you exactly how FCP Euro’s DIY team set up their spaces, and we’ll teach you how to perform basic maintenance jobs using our own project cars as an example.
Last but not least, we’ll expand our scope to focus on more agnostic diagnosis and repair, like getting into the basics of electrical systems, how to align your car at home, and more.
As always, we want to hear from you in the comments below about what you’d like to see done and how we can help you throughout the coming weeks, months, and years to come.
