If you have started to experience uneven tire wear in the rear of your car, a simple often ignored bolt could be the cause. When it comes to the F25 X3 and F26 X4, BMW uses these eccentric bolts to adjust your car's rear alignment. These bolts should be adjusted or replaced often to ensure they don't slowly fail on you.

BMW F25 X3 and F26 X4 Eccentric Bolt Kit Replacement Symptoms

Depending on where you live, road salt, or just salt in the air will wreak havoc on your car's suspension components. These eccentric bolts in the rear of your BMW F25 X3 and F26 X4 are incredibly susceptible to this even though they are coated. The function of these eccentric bolts is to actually adjust the suspension inward or outward slightly via the toe link and camber link to align the vehicle. Over time, these bolts heavily corrode and seize inside the bushings, making adjustment nearly impossible.

The only symptom of these eccentric bolts needing replacement is uneven tire wear in the rear of your vehicle. You can get underneath your car and visually inspect it for heavy corrosion. If this is the case, these bolts should be replaced before bringing it in for an alignment.

Replacement of these bolts depends entirely on the environment you live in. If you live near the coast where there's a lot of salt in the air, or if you live somewhere that salts the roads every winter, these bolts will need to be replaced much more often. We advise that you check these whenever you're underneath your car or before you plan to replace your tires.
