Audi B8 2.0 (A4, Q3, Q5 & More) Throttle Body Kit - Symptoms And Product Review
The throttle body in your Audi B8 A4, although simple, plays an important role in the operation of your vehicle. An improperly functioning throttle body can cause your car to run rough or even not run at all.
Your throttle body is a very simple mechanical component with one function; that is, to control the amount of air entering into your combustion chamber. It does this by way of a butterfly valve that is actuated by your throttle position. When more throttle is applied, the butterfly valve opens wider. When less or no throttle is applied, the valve closes down. As simple as it is, it's crucial that this mechanism operates accurately.
Audi B8 2.0 Throttle Body Kit Replacement Symptoms
When your throttle body fails, it usually isn't mechanical. Rather, the failure comes from the throttle body position sensor. When this fails, it can't be replaced separately; the entire throttle body has to be replaced. Some of the symptoms of a failing throttle body or the position sensor are:
- Poor Acceleration/No Acceleration
- Rough Idle
- Check Engine Light Illuminated
- Fault Code
- Throttle Body Position Sensor
There isn't an exact mileage that your throttle body begins to fail at. It can happen as early as 20,000 miles, or be fine north of 100,000. This we recommend replacing only when you're having symptoms and have a fault code for it.
