The first thing to do is cut the crack. Use a utility knife to shave away some of the surface in the shape of a "V" so that you can caulk it with silicone. Clean the inside and the outside of the crack. Make sure you remove all dust and residue from within the crack. Mask both sides of the crack with painters tape. This will prevent silicone from getting on the vinyl dashboard. Fill the crack with silicone caulking, and allow it to dry for 10 to 15 minutes before removing the tape. Paint the large cracks in the dash of your Volvo with vinyl paint. Make sure to allow the silicone to dry for two hours before painting.
