The name Eos was chosen as to name the car after the Greek goddess of the dawn. The Eos is the first coupe produced by VW since the Corrado ceased production in the mid 1990s. The Volkswagen Eos is different from most convertibles as it does not have a soft roof made from foldable cloth-like material. Instead it consists of a 5 piece motorized roof that comes apart sequentially and folds itself neatly in the trunk of the car.
