Saab Crankcase Parts

Saab Crankcase Parts
Saab first showed up on the auto market over 50 years ago out of Scandinavia, from a broad landscape of originality and highly developed designs. This resulted in a full line of technologically advanced vehicles all injected with a dedication to our environment. Saab’s auto parts give all Saab vehicles with the original parts, based on the same practice of innovation and designs from their past reputation. The Saab brand has always been esteemed and known for their expertise in all of their products, and even their crankcase parts and components. There are many questions surrounding your Saab’s crankcase, including if high pressure can be brought on by worn out piston rings. Your Saab’s crankcase pressure has been an issue within their vehicle engines for many years. While your Saab’s crankcase ventilation systems were brought on in the 1970s, they were first designed to cut down on emissions. They also had the side benefit of resolving an old internal-combustion problem. All engines experience a particular amount of pressure because of a few factors. Cylinder pressures in a normal engine can easily top 150 to 200 psi during the power stroke. These piston rings keep a majority of this pressure in the cylinder, but their seal against the cylinder wall is not airtight. Even if your Saab’s seal were 99.5 percent flawless, the crankcase would still pressurize to about 1 psi. This pressure promotes oil leaks in your Saab’s gaskets and adds to air pollution by transitioning a consistent stream of untreated oil vapor from the engine's breather cap. FCP Euro has large inventory of Saab crankcase parts and components, including all parts for Saab’s vehicles.

Because of the movement of your Saab’s pistons and the promptness of the combustion events, pressure will usually come seep from your engine in regular puffs of pressure, instead of a steady low flow. These puffs can show you something about your engine's condition, as well. Normally, these puffs of pressure should be hardly noticeable when you hold your hand over the oil cap. The more influential the individual puffs are, the more pressure is rising with each event and the more cylinder leakage your Saab has. If the puffs are intense enough to move your hand, it is time to rebuild. "Blow-by" is referring to the amount of gas that gets past your Saab’s piston rings and into the crankcase. Overall, a street engine will lose about 1.5 percent of the air to blow-by; or about 1 cfm per 50 horsepower. That being said, a 250-horsepower engine would see about 5 cfm of blow-by through the oil breather, and a 500-horsepower engine will get about 10. The same 1.5-percent rule can also be applied to pressure. If your cylinder pressure tops out at 150 psi, you should see about 1 psi of pressure in the crankcase.
