BMW has always been known for their quality, which has been a part of the brand ever since their first vehicle was showcased. They have an inspirational reputation, which has assisted in shaping their brand, and more specifically, with their seat parts and components. You BMW’s power seats come with numerous features in order to get the best position for driver and passenger. The trick when troubleshooting your BMW’s power seats is to focus on the mechanical or electrical issue areas, including, the mechanism that fails to lower and raise the seat, or the part that slides or tilts the seat forward and backwards. You only need some more general knowledge of electricity or diagnose some easy processes. Look for one of the more regular problems in power seats by examining the seat rails and the places below your BMW’s seat with a flashlight and make sure there is not anything obstructing or stopping the seat from moving. Look into the fuse or circuit breaker if both front power seats are not working as well. Turn the ignition of your BMW, but do not start the engine. Activate the power seat switch and keep an ear out for the motor running below the faulty seat. If you do not hear any noise coming from the motor, lift the switch from the door panel or the side of the seat. If you have questions about BMW’s seat parts or components, the FCP Euro team and website are always easily available.

Inspect for incoming voltage at the switch using a light. If there is no voltage, examine the wiring between the switch and the fuse panel for an open or short. Unplug the switch and check it for continuity with a multimeter. If there is no continuity you have to replace the switch. Check the relay if your circuit has one between the switch and the faulty motor. Activate the switch and make sure the relay is getting voltage. Also, check for outgoing voltage from the relay to the motor with a test light here, as well. Make sure the relay is grounded correctly. Take off or move the seat to the side if possible for this inspection. If one of the voltages is not present, test that part of the wire for an open or short. If there is no outgoing voltage, check the relay and replace it if need be. Unplug the failed motor and test it outside, joining the motor to your BMW’s battery with two jumper cables. If the motor still does not work you have to replace it. FCP Euro's effective and educated call center specialists are always reachable and ready to answer any questions you have.
