BMW Door and Window Parts
BMW is world renowned for its quality, which has been a characteristic throughout their widespread history. They have produced intuitive vehicles with intelligent designs, all with a promise to follow through with their creative product line. BMW still manufactures quality driven and outstandingly crafted vehicles. They have a great reputation for reliability, which has led them to further their brand into an industry leader, and more specifically, with their door and window parts and components. A common issue pertaining to not only BMW’s, but also vehicles in general, is door lock problems that can transpire over time. Prior to replacing your BMW’s door lock, it is important to take your door lock cylinder to the dealer or to a locksmith and have the cylinder coded to admit the initial key. This will only take a couple of minutes and is not expensive. Overall, this little bit of extra effort will be much easier on you, as you will not have different keys for different doors on your BMW. The first thing you need to do is take off the door panel by removing the screws in the armrest and the door handle. Then, take off the screws around the boundary of the door panel. Take off the plastic cover that hides the mounting area for the outside mirror and pop in your screwdriver between the door panel and door. Meddle out the snaps in and around the outer area of the door holding the door panel on. If you have questions about BMW’s door and window parts, the FCP Euro team and website are always helpful.

Now you are ready to slant the underside of the door outward to free the top doorsill from the angled ledge beside the window. Tug the door away enough to unsnap the fasteners holding the door latch rod and the door lock rod to the door handle, then detach all of the electrical linkage to the door panel. Take away the rod from the exterior door lock mechanism. Remember, the window has to be rolled up to get to the lock. Now, make use of some needle nose pliers to unsnap the plastic fastener from the rod stemming from the door lock to the door latch. You are now ready to take off the rod and the electrical linkage from the lock. Take away the spring clip that is holding the door lock cylinder securely. In order to take it off, you can use pliers to grab the curved notch at the peak of the spring clip and lift it up. This will allow you to slide it out. Mount the new lock by inserting the spring clip from the top and pressing down on it. Now put back the electrical linkage and the door lock rod into the opening in the door lock. Snap the plastic fastener clip over the rod and put all of the BMW parts back in reverse from how you took them apart. FCP has a huge product line for the BMW brand.
