BMW Ball Joint Parts
BMW has always put their passion for quality and modern designs at the forefront of their brand, which has pushed them into being one of the German big three automakers, with Audi and Mercedes. Their reputation for quality has been noticed in their products, as well, especially their ball joint parts. The lower ball joints are the only joints that can be replaced on your BMW. If the upper ball joints need maintenance, you will need to swap out the whole control arm. To do this, you will need a unique tool to release the ball joint from the lower control arm. Fortunately, this tool is not expensive and worth buying to complete this procedure at home. The first thing to do is jack your BMW off the ground and place the jack stand beneath the frame for safety. Lift the jack stand as close to the frame as you can. Take off your wheel with a lug wrench and use a socket and ratchet to detach the rear control arm-bushing bracket where it connects to the body. If you have questions about BMW’s ball joint parts or components, the FCP Euro team and website are always here for you.

Use your socket and ratchet to take off the bolts that join the hub to your BMW’s struts and add a mark on the lower control arm where the ball joint joins to it. This will allow for precise alignment for the new ball joint. Next, take off the cotter pin and nut from the ball joint using your ball joint tool to push the ball joint out of the control arm. Put the new ball joint in the control arm and line it up with the mark you just made. Use your ball joint tool to push your new ball joint into the control arm. Install the nut using your socket and ratchet and then put the cotter pin in to secure the nut. Put back the hub to the struts and secure the bolts with a socket and ratchet. Put back the front stabilizer to the control arm and secure it with your socket and ratchet, as well.
