About Audi R8
This is Audi’s supercar with a 2-seat mid-engine design first launched in 2007, it’s based off of the Audi Le Man Quattro concept car. The construction of the Audi R8 is based on the signature Audi Space Frame using aluminum to keep the vehicle strong and light. The R8 was first produced with a 4.2 liter V8 putting out 414 hp and 317 ft lbs of torque with it being essentially the same engine used in the Audi B7 RS4. A 5.2 liter V10 was available for the 2010 model year using a similar engine found in the Lamborghini Gallardo. The Audi R8 was able to achieve 525 horsepower and 391 ft lbs of torque; this made it possible to launch the R8 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds with a 196 mph top speed. The Audi R8 was the first to incorporate LED headlight technology for a production vehicle. The German models have an S-Tronic option only for the R8 powered with a V10. The US R8 V10 Spyder comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission only. There’s a decent amount of parts from the Lamborghini Gallardo shared with the R8 including door handle parts, transmissions, some of the chassis and the revised V10 engine.
